Safeguarding, quality & trust

Safeguarding underpins everything we do

Robust systems to identify, manage and escalate risk — with clear procedures, consistent oversight and decisive action so young people remain safe and protected.

Regulation-aligned practice

We operate in line with statutory guidance and the Supported Accommodation (England) Regulations 2023, with policies reviewed annually or sooner where guidance changes.

Risk identification and management

Individual risk assessments are completed before admission and reviewed at least monthly, and immediately after any significant incident.

Decisive escalation

Concerns are escalated in writing to the placing authority and, where required, to the local authority safeguarding team without delay.

Management oversight

Daily records, weekly management review, monthly audits and staff supervision, so that practice is checked rather than assumed.

Escalation

Who we contact, and when

Every pathway is documented, time-bound and recorded. Placing authorities receive written notification of significant events, not a phone call that disappears.

Immediate danger
Emergency services on 999, then the registered manager and the placing authority's duty officer.
Safeguarding concern
Referral to the host local authority safeguarding team, with written notification to the placing authority within the same working day.
Missing from placement
Reported to police and the placing authority, with return home interview and strategy discussion where indicated.
Placement instability
Request for a placement review or strategy meeting, with a written summary of presenting concerns and actions taken.

Quality assurance

Quality is monitored, not promised

A predictable cycle of recording, review, reporting and learning — the same in every home, and visible to the authorities who commission us.

Daily records

Contact notes, incident records and handover written on the day.

Weekly oversight

Registered manager reviews records, incidents and risk plans.

Monthly reporting

Placement summary and outcomes progress sent to the placing authority.

Quarterly learning

Audit themes reviewed, actions set and practice updated.

Safer recruitment & training

The right people, properly checked

  • Enhanced DBS checks and references before starting work
  • Values-based interviews including safeguarding scenarios
  • Induction covering safeguarding, trauma-informed practice and record keeping
  • Regular supervision, annual appraisal and refresher training
  • Whistleblowing route available to all staff, with no detriment
